DVS Students Enter Spin-a-Web Competition

Two students from the school have entered a website in the 2001 Spinaweb.ie competition. Darragh Gibbons and Leo Logan have made a website entitled 'Ireland's Hidden Jewel', which is based on Lough Allen, which is close to the school. The site contains many interesting facts on the lake as well as a detailed history and many stories and legends of the Lough Allen district.

Darragh and Leo are fourth year students in the school and have already made websites of their own. Darragh runs the very popular 'Department of Sound' (http://departmentofsound.tripod.com) which has all the latest stories from the local music scene, as well as many interactivities such as live chat, forum and regular polls. He also has his own site http://darraghgibbons.4t.com.  Both sites are highly recommended.

Leo is creator of the Leitrim Handball website (http://leitrim.gaa.ie/handball) and the official site 'Paraffin' the band with whom he sings. (http://paraffinrock.tripod.com)

The lads have also entered the NTL Internet awards with a similar site. Give them a hand NOW by going to www.ntl.ie and casting your vote for their site to win.

VOLLEYBALL

It is now common knowledge around these parts that the school has one of the most successful histories of volleyball in the country and this year is no difference.  After a very convincing win in the quarterfinals the boys Senior A volleyballers have done it again.  Mr. King's soldiers went into battle once again last Friday in Loughrea, Co. Galway.  They have done great work in reaching the All-Ireland Semi-finals. Beaten in the 5th set they put up agreat display.
